Kiva Michigan empowers citizens to nominate and lend to small businesses in Detroit & Flint, $25 at a time. In so doing, Kiva Michigan extends a unique opportunity for Michiganders everywhere to connect to one another and to small businesses in the state.

Led by community leaders in Detroit & Flint, Kiva Michigan features small businesses pursuing microloans on Kiva while also rallying broader community support for these entrepreneurs throughout the loan process and beyond. 

There are three ways to get involved:

1. Lend to an entrepreneur. All it takes is $25 to get started! Be sure to search 'Michigan' when visiting http://zip.kiva.org

2. Join a Kiva Team (currently available in Detroit and Flint) to discover, nominate, and support small businesses. CLICK HERE to Join.

3. Nominate an entrepreneur for funding through Kiva Michigan! Do you know an entrepreneur of strong character who has a positive impact in the community and a specific funding need? We invite you to nominate him or her by clicking below.

As a Kiva borrower, you can:
  1. Access critical business funding through a simple application process
  2. Be featured on Kiva’s website and boost ongoing publicity by posting business updates
  3. Tap into Kiva Detroit’s community network of support throughout your application process and beyond
Kiva Loan Terms:
  1. Up to $5,000
  2. Repayment terms up to 24 months
  3. 0% interest
  4. Disbursals and repayments made in regular weekly or monthly installments electronically via Paypal
  5. Posted and crowd-funded on zip.Kiva.org (funds disbursed only after the loan has been fully funded on the website).
Who is eligible? 
  1. Start-up and existing businesses of all legal entities located in Wayne, Macomb, Oakland and Genesee counties
  2. Must have legal business loan purpose
  3. Loan purpose must demonstrate positive social impact in the community
  4. Proof of repayment plans for significant past due debt
  5. Not in bankruptcy / foreclosure proceedings or about to enter them
