About Us

Michigan Corps' platform engages a global 'Corps Member' network in cutting edge, 21st century service opportunities across our state. Through various initiatives, we engage Michigan citizens everywhere in efforts to advance a community of social innovators and entrepreneurs building a new future for MI.

Founded in 2010, the Michigan Corps community of Corps Members has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, the Associated Press, the Detroit Free Press, Detroit News, Crain's, WWJ Radio, WJR Radio, MLive.com, AnnArbor.com, and numerous other local and national media. In November 2010, Michigan Corps was asked to join Governor of Michigan's bipartisan economic transition team. In January 2011, Michigan Corps was named a global semifinalist for the prestigious Echoing Green Fellowship.

To date, Michigan Corps has founded Kiva Michigan and the Pure Michigan Social Entrepreneurship Challenge to connect, develop, and fund emerging social entrepreneurs in our state, supported the success of Detroit4Detroit's Citizen Philanthropy initiative, partnered with Google to tell inspiring stories about innovators in our state, and launched other world-class social innovation in Michigan.

Michigan Corps' first-of-its-kind model leverages the state's competitive advantage: a loyal community of local and global citizens craving connectedness and new opportunities to lead social change together.

Founding Corps Members include Google CEO Dr. Eric Schmidt, Sports Broadcaster Dick Enberg, CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Pulitzer Prize-winning Author Jeffrey Eugenides, Former Digg CEO Jay Adelson, Skoll Foundation President Dr. Larry Brilliant, and Sun Microsystems Founder Scott McNealy.

Michigan Corps is a recognized 501(c)(3), tax-exempt, non-profit organization.
